Cowgirl Lynn Anderson Rides Again
When Lynn Anderson was at the Country Radio Seminar Conference in February, you’d swear Annie Oakley herself was walking through the Nashville Convention Center. Dressed like a cowgirl out of an old western movie, Anderson was in Music City to promote her new album, LYNN ANDERSON COWGIRL II, a collection of western swing and cowboy songs.
This album promises to be just as successful as the first with Barry Corbin, Bob Kingsley, Rollie Stevens and Miss Belinda Gail lending their signature singing voices to the disc.
Awards from the first album include Best Female Vocalist 2007 Western Music Association , Best Western Swing CD 2007 Academy Of Western Artists and Best Western CD 2007 Academy Of Western Artists. The achievement that Anderson is most proud of is her 2008 Western Heritage Award from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
“This award puts me in the same company as John Wayne and Roy Rogers”, Anderson told NMG. This award first presented in 1961, was established to honor and encourage the legacy of those whose works in literature, music, film, and television reflect the significant stories of the American West. If you treasure Western swing and cowboy songs, both CD’s are a must buy. Anderson was born in Grand Forks, South Dakota and in the 1970’s became a country music mega star as releasing the song “I Never Promised you a Rose Garden. The song skyrocketed to the top of the Country charts and crossed over to be #3 on the pop charts. Today, Billboard ranks Lynn Anderson among the top ten most successful country female artists for all-time record sales. Anderson lives in Taos, New Mexico and her passions are music, horses and her third husband, singer-songwriter Mentor Williams.
